Day One

In today’s orientation into the Revit Bootcamp, we got familiar with some of the basics in the Revit Architecture 2009 software and got acquainted to StudioGC Architects + Interiors. As a group, we went through Revit’s user interface and reviewed how to navigate through the program. We learned about the capabilities of Revit Architecture as a revolutionary approach in architecture, rather than just as a modeling program, as was our previous knowledge base. Pat Callahan stressed the four main components of Revit Architecture, which are as follows: Modeling, Families, Components, and Details. If a designer approaches a project with these components in mind, they will be able to produce a working architectural model, which can be fed into other programs, like Revit Structure which analyzes structures, in order to create a better interface between different specialists and clients. To sum up today’s lessons, we began to get acquainted with the possibilities of Revit in today’s architectural world and began to establish the means by which we are going to approach the program through Revit Bootcamp.
